What Are Moon Rocks?

What are Moon Rocks

Have you ever been so high that you’ve thought you would never land?

If your answer is negative, then you’ve probably never tried Moon Rocks.

Also known as the cannabis caviar (and for a good reason), Moon Rocks provide cannabis users with an entirely new dimension of high. These creations can hit like a train but believe us, the whole experience is well worth it.

The Term ‘Moon Rocks’, Explained

While the name may lead you to expect a newly bred cannabis strain, Moon Rocks are actually some sort of a cannabis experiment instead. They were allegedly first created by the dispensary Starbudz760 in cooperation with legendary West Coast rapper Kurrupt who popularized the product and even came up with his own version under the name ‘Kurrupt Moonrock.’

More to the point, Moon Rocks are like a THC devastator — they’re essentially marijuana buds (originally Girl Scout Cookies, but any strain will do) sprayed with or dipped in hash oil, then submerged in kief.

Although the potency of each batch of Moon Rocks varies between strains and how they’re made/who produces them, the general consensus is that they clock in at around 50% THC.

If you’ve ever indulged in an ice cream cone dipped in salted caramel and generously covered with sprinkles, then you know exactly how to spot Moon Rocks in your dispensary. Their bag appeal is simply dazzling.

Moon Rocks: Same Product, Different Names

If you know the 420 vocabulary like the back of your hand, then you also know that marijuana culture is full of different nicknames for the most popular marijuana products and concepts.

That being said, it shouldn’t come to your surprise that Moon Rocks are no exception. One of the most popular, and perhaps most fitting nicknames for these glamorous THC bombs is cannabis caviar or weed caviar.

These names are often used interchangeably, but you’ll meet some people referring to buds sprayed with hash oil without kief as cannabis caviar. Either way, both these products will pack a serious punch.

What Are the Benefits of Moon Rocks?

Let’s make something clear, you don’t want to smoke Moon Rocks all day, as you will get nothing done. And by nothing, we mean literally nothing.

Moon Rock is a “one and done” smoke; a very small amount can keep you sky-high for a long time.

But on top of being extremely fun to use, Moon Rocks come with plenty of medicinal perks. Anyone who suffers from chronic pain, severe inflammation, or overwhelming stress will find long-lasting relief with minimal effort.

However, to experience the benefits of Moon Rocks, one has to get past the smoking session first — and like we said, Moon Rocks can hit pretty hard and the smoke is not necessarily smooth.

What’s It Like to Smoke Moon Rocks?

Honestly?

It feels as if you grabbed God by the feet.

By all means, this isn’t a product for newbies, nor is it always suitable for experienced smokers. Seriously, you need to be a savvy weed veteran to withstand the strength provided by Moon Rocks.

The whole smoking experience feels delicious, although the smoke itself can be harsh given the high levels of THC. When consuming Moon Rocks, you’re inhaling the whole palette of aromas and flavors from the strain, hash oil, and kief — such a fragrant bouquet to please your nostrils and palate.

When it comes to the high, it starts with a strong head rush, eventually creeping down the entire body to provide you with complete physical relaxation. Although the first 30 minutes may lead you to think that the high starts to wear off, the reality turns out way different than expectations.

An hour later, you’ll realize that the high has just reached a mountaintop that you might not be soon ready to come off. The buzz will turn into a hazy and giggly sensation which may throw you into a couch-lock coma if you overindulge in this cannabis treat.

Long story short, be prepared for hours of euphoric and tranquilizing high that may show its signs even in the next morning.

A Step-By-Step Guide to Making Your Own Moon Rocks

Making your own Moon Rocks at home is easy like a walk in the park. Once you gather the equipment, it only takes some patience and basic manual skills to produce these THC-loaded goodies.

Here’s what you need to make Moon Rocks:

Ingredients:

  • Your favorite cannabis strain
  • Your favorite hash oil
  • A generous bowl of kief collected from the grinder
  • A pair of thongs
  • A dropper

Instructions:

  1. Grab a nug of your favorite bud. Use one of the denser nugs because it will be able to hold more oil and kief together.
  2. Prepare your hash oil. If it’s too thick, heat it up to the desired consistency.
  3. Use the dropper to completely cover your bud in the oil.
  4. Grab the bud with your tongs and roll it in kief until the entire nug is covered in the beautiful coating of crystal resin.
  5. Repeat the whole process with remaining nugs.
  6. Let your Moon Rock sit on a cooling rack and dry until it’s ready for consumption.

Smart Tips For Using Moon Rocks

As we said, Moon Rocks are not for newbies, but if you insist on trying them, here’s a couple of life hacks to make this experience as smooth as possible:

  • Always use glassware to smoke Moon Rocks. Trying to roll them up in a joint will leave you with much waste and make you mad with the mess it will produce.
  • When aiming at a super-strong high, consider adding some Moon Rocks on top of your flower. It’s a highway to getting elevated.
  • Don’t smoke Moon Rocks when you have serious duties planned that day. These magical nugs are so strong that they’ll likely keep you immobilized for the rest of the day — not literally, of course, but still…
  • Smoking Moon Rocks can induce a strong case of the cottonmouth, so grab a gallon of water and keep it at hand before, during, and after your sesh. Oh, and plan some snacks ahead, too — the munchies are real.
  • Choose a comfortable environment to enjoy Moon Rocks to the fullest. You’re going to be on standby mode and all you’ll want to do is kick back and watch the world drift by, so go ahead and pick some soothing surroundings.

Try hot knifing, heat the budder knifes the ones you use for buttering toast, til red hot, make a nice size hit, use a glass hooter, and knife a hit you can’t miss and on top of that making oil on the glass hooter, just a thought
